Scott R. Oakley is an experienced litigator primarily situated out of the Firm's Lexington office. His strong sense of justice is only outweighed by his drive to outwork the opposition and deliver the best possible result for every client. Behind closed doors, clients often appreciate Scott's cheerful and personable disposition, especially when their situation is stressful or overwhelming.
Scott began his career as an Assistant District Attorney for Rowan County, where he prosecuted felonies and misdemeanors and litigated both jury and bench trials. Scott's prior experience consistently battling in the courtroom has allowed for a smooth transition to private practice with respect to advocating for his clients at Davis & Davis. At his core, Scott believes litigation is the most important part of the practice of law and that "iron sharpens iron", which is why he casts a wide net as it relates to his practice areas and prefers to be in court on a daily basis. Whether it be representation for criminal charges, a hotly contested custody battle, complex business litigation, or even a small claims issue, Scott is ready to serve his client with strategic and effective advocacy.
Prior to his legal career, Scott grew up in Orlando, Florida, and went to college at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. There he played NCAA Division II basketball, served as the Student Body President, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Global Conflict Studies. From there, Scott attended Liberty University School of Law in Lynchburg, Virginia. At Liberty, Scott made Senior Staff on Law Review, and graduated near the top of his class with a Concentration in Constitutional Law. He also had great success representing Liberty in negotiations competitions. As for his summer internships, Scott first completed an internship for a constitutional law firm that litigated and won against the Commonwealth of Virginia. Finally, Scott had the privilege of completing internships on the Supreme Court of Alabama for Chief Justice Tom Parker, as well as Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall.
Outside of work, Scott has passions for basketball and volleyball, and can often be found coaching the youth with his wife at the Salisbury YMCA or at Salisbury High School. He also happens to be a part-time DJ, and finds himself DJing a relative's wedding every few months or so!
